Stumbling On

The hard reality is that while I promised myself I would write a blog post every day, this may not be possible (at least in the short term) for the foreseeable future. Taking on a new role with higher responsibility within a truly awesome school is going to impact my free time and I need to be kind to myself.

That being said, it’s also true to say that the discipline of posting daily (well, six days a week because ‘Sabbath’) has been enormously beneficial to me and (apparently) to some readers. I cannot adequately express my gratitude to everyone who reads these posts and/or listens to the podcast – thank you!

Ideas don’t stop pouring from my head. There is never a day when I do not, at some point, think about roleplaying games. My love for RPGs is overwhelming. I don’t think it would be healthy for me to try and hold this in. Besides, my whole reason to exist as a podcaster was to encourage folk to persist in the face of overwhelming life pressures.

I am going to endeavour to stumble on with posting as much as I can manage. As I was standing today in line waiting for a chip butty, I noticed I was juggling the 3d6 in my pocket and felt transported to thinking about the far future game I am desperate to design and write. While the going might get tough and things slow down, I ask your forbearance.

But even if I was to disappear altogether and become the hypocrite I so desperately seek to avoid becoming, please hang in there with your own hobby. Don’t stop dreaming, don’t stop meeting your friends, and don’t stop rolling the dice (if that’s your jam). Remember: the opposite of play is not work, it’s depression.

Game on!
