Having been unwell for several days, with low energy and a foggy mind, it’s intriguing to me how this low condition often sparks a short yet productive creative spurt. Thus, today I was writing feverishly for Fellmyr and sketching out the history of the world with great energy.

Perhaps it’s the emptying of the mind as you find yourself unable to think clearly that begins to unlock creativity. It seems to me that the clarity we can achieve once all distractions and unhelpful thoughts depart from consciousness opens the way for more fantastic imaginings.
Personally, I know the fever dreams and intense imagery that I experience during periods of sleep while sick are some of the most creative and energising moments. I would never seek to be unwell and yet, strangely, it feels like a strange inversion of expectation to experience such ideas.
In the end, I’ll take the creative spurts whenever and wherever originate. The rest of the time it’s so hard to focus that these periods of lucidity are precious indeed.
Game on!

“I’ll take the creative spurts whenever and wherever originate.”
Exactly. Very few people associate with this.

Probably in instalments and most likely in the ‘zine I did a one-off for on Patreon. 😉
