Unbirthday Present

Our family has an archaic tradition in which those children for whom today is NOT their birthday, but who are taking part in the celebration of another child’s birthday, are given a single unbirthday present.

As today is my wife’s 53rd annual celebration of our epic journey around Sol, I treated myself to an unbirthday present. Even though I am technically an adult, I have ever felt myself as nothing more than a grown-up 14-year-old and so the rule still counts.

My gift? A printed copy of Rolemaster Unified Spell Law. I find myself drawn back towards this old joy and the new edition deserves some love – especially as I helped playtest it a few years back. Perhaps I’ll permit myself to solo with it. Either way, I treated myself.

Happy birthday, dearest wife. Happy unbirthday to me!

Game on!
