24-Hours In Moria

In 1988, six seventeen-year-old friends assembled to take an expedition through the famed halls of Khazad-dum. They were, of course, fantasy roleplayers and I was one of them.

Many times have I told the tale of Goriel Swiftfoot and the slaying of the Balrog of Moria. This week, I found some photos which capture some small sense of this event – the most memorable roleplaying session in my entire 40 years or so of play.

I didn’t quite know how to present this so I have opted to keep things simple. Here are the photos. Make of them what you will.

With fond memories and thanks to Alex (the GM), Daniel, Brian, Duncan, and Gavin. The system was Rolemaster.

Game on!
