This week has been a collision between the imaginary and experiential world on a deep level. It’s hard to express the depth of realisation that has exploded around me, so I will simply list the many points of contact and leave it at that.

Returning to school after the break, we were visiting by Ofsted and inspected. I discovered, “The Symbolic World” podcast by Jonathan Pageau after hearing him speak on the “Amun Sul” podcast about dragons. At the end of the week, we went to the Theatre Royal in Nottingham to see “The Ocean At The End Of The Lane” (based on Neil Gaiman’s novel).
I have made an explosive series of connections between the imaginary and experiential world through the medium of symbolism and story. I’ve been watching Johnn Four’s “Wizard of Adventure” online course about campaign building and learning new approaches to GMing at the same time as seeing the imagery of my game world deepen in my understanding.
Even the casual wearing of my tee-shirt featuring the logo of the Technocratic Union as I entered the theatre has left me sensitive to the malleable boundaries between the imagination and reality. As Old Mrs Hempstock asks us, “Where does imagination end and reality begin?”
I’m not entirely sure you can tell.

This definitely sounds like something to explore!
